Art Cart session two: Relief printmaking

March 5, 2013

Another fun session last Friday. This week, printmaking part 2!

Art for Wellbeing blog

P1040861Our creative experimenting continued on Friday with a master-class in relief printmaking.

P1040864We talked about different ways of making simple prints, focusing on block printing using carboard and lino, and monoprinting.

After a quick demonstration, the group sketched out some of their ideas in the learning journals, thinking about how each one could translate in to the different methods of printmaking. Some people came up with new designs and others were based on the collages that they’d done the previous week.

Then everyone got stuck in, and yes, it did get a bit messy!

The next session will give everyone a chance to finish off, and work out some final designs, as well as having a go at using some of their designs to make cards, bags and gift tags. Was great to see everyone’s unique approaches to the techniques, and how their designs came to life when printed with colourful inks.
